Description

VITIS vinifera GRAPEVINE Chardonnay 3L

One of the most popular and best-known white wine grapes that originates from the Burgundy region of France and can be found in vineyards all over the world.  This versatile variety produces an excellent crop of small golden coloured seeded grapes in September which have a lovely sweet flavour and are sweet enough to be eaten straight from the vine or made into a refreshing juice.  Can initially be slow to establish, but once it does so, it will become extremely vigorous.  Chardonnay is self-fertile and hardy, fruiting reliably in the UK.  Best grown against a warm, sunny wall to ensure a good crop.  Has an ornamental benefit in autumn as the foliage turns to stunning shades of orange-red and yellow.

  • Height & Spread: up to 8m x 12m.
  • Crops: September.
  • Planting distance: 1m apart and 15cm away from the wall/fence it is to be trained up.
