Green Privet

Privet is a widely grown evergreen/semi evergreen, meaning that it is generally evergreen but may lose some or all of its leaves in very hard winters or if planted in strongly exposed or coastal sites.  Privet has rich green oval shaped leaves and forms creamy white flowers in July, which are attractive to butterflies and birds.  Very popular because it can be grown almost anywhere, is easy to clip, and its evergreen nature providing screening throughout the year.  Fast growing, Privet hedges are perfect for quick screening, wind proofing and noise reduction.  Resistant to pollution and therefore popular in urban and suburban gardens.  Will grow well in all, but very wet soils, preferring a position in full sun or partial shade.
