AMELANCHIER alnifolia SASKATOON Prince William 3L

A handsome dwarf selection, Prince William grows to be a medium sized branching shrub with masses of white flowers in spring.  These are  followed by good crops of purple/black fruits with a very good flavour.  The berries are full of antioxidants and are very popular with birds so will need to be protected.  While it is considered to be somewhat self-pollinating, it tends to set heavier quantities of fruit with a different variety of the same species growing nearby.  Attractive orange/red autumn colour.

• Self fertile although benefits from a partner.
• Plant 3.5m (11ft) apart.
• Eventual height and spread: 3m x 2m
• Crops: late June/July
