Outstanding early/mid season variety bred in Germany. One of the most productive of all asparagus. Attractive purple bracts that contrast nicely with the green spears. Superior spear quality – tender with tight tips. Very heavy cropper, exceptional flavour. Outstanding performer.
Cropping season: late April to late June
Height & spread: 1.5m x 50cm
3 litre stock will be supplied pot grown where possible.
Bare root stock is available for dispatch between late October & late March. Orders can be placed in advance at any time, just bear in mind that payment will be taken in full at time of ordering. Please be aware the bare root asparagus is sold in outers of 5 crowns.
Asparagus grows best in light, well-drained soil, sheltered from cold winds. On heavy soils it is recommended using a raised bed containing plenty of well-rotted compost to ensure healthy growth. Plant 38cm (15in) apart.
Allow the crowns to develop by not cropping the first year. Feed in the spring with a general purpose fertiliser. Cut foliage back almost to ground level in autumn and apply a mulch of compost.
