VACCINIUM corymbosum BLUEBERRY Aurora 3L
Aurora is a late season Highbush variety. In late spring, masses of fragrant waxy bell-shaped flowers appear in tight clusters, giving way to extremely high yields of extra large powder blue berries of rich flavour. The fruit is resistant to cracking and shrivelling but can be tart if harvested before fully ripe. Attractive Autumn/Winter colour and interest provided by leaves and reddish stems. Plant in an open sunny spot in a moist acid, but well-drained soil. Can also be successfully grown in pots with ericaceous compost.
- Self fertile, but as with all blueberries, cross pollination will encourage a greater yield.
- Eventual height and spread: 1.2m – 1.8m
- Plant 1.5m (5ft) apart in rows 2m (6ft) apart.
- Cropping season: August-September.
