VACCINIUM corymbosum BLUEBERRY Hortblue Petite 3L
An outstanding new variety! The worlds first two-cropping blueberry, producing its first crop in July, followed by a second in September. As its name suggests, HortBlue Petite is a compact, small-statured variety with highly branched growth. The abundant fruit is dark blue with excellent flavour. Ideal for patio containers. Eventual height: 1m. Eventual spread: 80cm. Cropping season: July & September. Self fertile, but cross pollination will encourage a greater yield.
This plant is supplied in a 3L pot.
Plant 1.5m (5ft) apart in rows 2m (6ft) apart.
Plant in an open sunny spot in a moist acid, but well-drained soil. Can also be sucessfully grown in pots with ericaceous compost.
Soak the root-ball before planting. Plant in a 20L container using ericaceous compost with John Innes and thoroughly water in. Can be planted in the ground if desired but ensure that the soil is acidic.
Apply slow release fertiliser tablets in the spring and liquid feed fortnightly in the summer. Water regularly. No pruning required.
