VACCINIUM corymbosum BLUEBERRY Top Hat 3L
The result of crossing a short stature high bush with a compact small low bush variety, Top Hat is an exciting cultivar that bears masses of pea-shaped berries in late summer. Unlike many blueberries, the pretty bell-shaped white blooms that precede the fruit are quite ornamental and comparatively huge on the tiny plant! The berries are sky blue and have a delicious flavour, the light green foliage remains fresh over a very long season. The perfect container plant for the sunny patio and also a distinctive choice for defined border plantings. Versatile and compact. Outstanding autumn foliage providing further ornamental interest. Eventual height: 61cm. Eventual spread: 46cm. Cropping season: July/August. Self fertile, but cross pollination will encourage a greater yield.
This plant is supplied in a 3L pot.
Soak the root-ball before planting. Plant in a 20L container using ericaceous compost with John Innes and thoroughly water in. Can be planted in the ground if desired but ensure that the soil is acidic.
Apply slow release fertiliser tablets in the spring and liquid feed fortnightly in the summer. Water regularly. No pruning required.
