RUBUS idaeus RASPBERRY Polka pot-grown 2L
Superb primocane Autumn fruiting variety bred in Poland. Renowned for the exceptional quality and consistency of its fruit. The large firm berries are conical in shape, medium red in colour and superb sweet, aromatic flavour and an outstanding shelf life. The fruit ripens approximately ten days earlier than Autumn Bliss and continues until the first frosts, giving heavier cropping potential. Polka provides a double cropping potential, the first being on the new seasons growth from August through until October, and then again the following June. The vigorous cane are virtually spine-free and have good disease resistance. Cropping season: mid August – October. Self fertile.
Supplied pot-grown in a 2L pot.
Plant in a sheltered spot in a well-drained but moist, fertile soil in full sun or light shade. Soak the root-ball before planting. Plant in a hole twice the diameter of the root-ball or pot. Mix an organic soil improver and general fertiliser with the infill soil. Water regularly until established.
Fruit is produced on the current seasons cane. Cut all cane to ground level in the winter. Keep rows 60cm (2ft) wide by removing unwanted cane in the Spring.
