RIBES rubrum WHITECURRANT Blanka 3L
The highest yielding whitecurrant by far, Blanka produces masses of almost transparent ivory coloured fruit that hang in long trusses allowing for easy picking. The fruit is sweet and freezes particularly well. Late season – crops: July-August. Eventual height and spread: 5ft. Self fertile.
This plant is supplied in a 3L pot.
Plant 45cm (18in) apart in rows 1.2m (4ft) apart.
Plant in a sheltered spot in a well-drained but moist, fertile soil in full sun or light shade.
Soak the root-ball before planting. Plant in a hole twice the diameter of the root-ball or pot. Mix an organic soil improver and general fertiliser with the infill soil. Water regularly until established.
Fruit is produced on previous year’s canes. First year cut down old canes when new shoots appear. Cut older canes back to ground level after fruiting, tie in newly produced canes and remove tips.
